Info on the next Bond movie.  Apparently it'll lack gadgets, Moneypenny, and Q, but with good reason, since it tells the backstory.

I was surprised to see "Technology was beginning to overwhelm the story and the characters" being admitted, which is my gripe with the last few movies.  I'm actually kind of looking forward to this next one now.

I have to admit I'm a little worried about Bond if they're diverting so much from the modern norm, but like Fyber I think it'll be a breath of fresh air.  I think I'll enjoy it, i just hope it doesn't ruin the franchise.

I think they've already tarnished it a little at least, if you ask me.  He used to just be that quiet franchise where everyone knew his name, yet that's about all the public thought of him until a new movie popped around.  These days they try to stick his name on everything, and EA shits out Bond game after horrible Bond game just to make money, while the more recent films have been overhyped considering they've generally just been a bunch of special effects with somewhat mediocre plots.  I mean they captured the style of bond, and were exciting enough and all, but kind of lost the mood, for a lack of better way to explain it.

Anyway, since they changed out actors, I just think they shoulda taken a few years break again, like they did after Timothy Dalton.  It needed some time to regain its charm.

I always fet that Goldeneye was the best of the new bond films, but Moonraker and Dr. No were my faves.

Doctor No was amazing. Never really got into Moonraker, but my favorite has to be Diamonds are Forever. Fucking classic, man. Second in line was prolly A View to Kill, one of them 80's ones.
Ten years to the minute, no longer in it.

I've seen Goldeneye about a hundred times by now, it's still the best one Brosnan ever did.

Also, here's Metal Slug in Flash.

And I always thought tearing up credit card applications every time was enough, but apparently not.

Can't anyone use fire anymore? Fire works better than shredders.

Wait, virtualisation? You mean like in the cartoon?

The host I use, Linode, uses a form of virtualization.  The site basically runs on a virtual computer I have full access to.  It doesn't even have to run website software; some people use'em to host game servers and that sorta stuff.  It's handier than normal web hosting since you can do what you want, but you pay more as a result.  But it lets me have my own IRC server or whatever else I wanna run.

Linode is UML-based, and will eventually switch to Xen which should make the whole site run faster, but who knows when that'll ever happen.

In Soviet Russia, video games play you.

Tilt Shift makes real landscapes look like scale models.

I haven't listened yet, but this place has a video and mp3 of a debate between an MPAA representative and geeks who know their salt.  She supposedly doesn't do so well . . !
