a tonne of simple games

A Tale in the Desert, an MMORPG. I think I might give a small review of it for all (5) of you contemplating on whether or not to download the client.

Like a lot of other smaller MMORPGs, they don't include a newbie tutorial, which sucks. They also don't let you have a very wide range of appearance variation. Also, the terrain and water inhibitions are annoying and dumb. Can't the characters walk and swim like normal people? Other than those fairly large limitations, it seems like it'd be pretty fun and novel game, with features that are considerably different than most other games of similar type. You would have to take a while to get a good hang of it, though.

As for a newbie tutorial for all (0) of you who actually downloaded the client, I think I'll fabricate one myself. SO, one of the most useful things in the game is the map, which can be toggled on and off by pressing F3. The words on your map mean different things. If they begin in S or U, it means that there is a School or University of the following subject on the black dot closest to that word. You can also click on yourself to bring up a menu of various commands and features, some of which might be of use to you. The bright, shiny buttons in the top-left corner of the screen have other purposes. The two on the far right bring up windows telling you about your goals. The one on the right tells you your current goal, and the one to the left of that one shows you a chart full of places where possible future goals could go. The first goal you have in the game is becoming a citizen, which you can do by completing the list of simple tasks found under the "Welcome to Egypt" tab in the lower-left corner of your screen. This quest keeps the clumsy and the retarded from becoming Egyptians. Other buttons that might appear in the upper-right corner of your screen might have functions like allowing your character to collect resources from the surrounding area, actions which are useful in completing your basic motor skills citizenship quest.
