I think I'll see the movies for the special effects jollies, but pass up on the book. In my opinion, her writing began to deteriorate after the third one.

The books have all been better than the movies, if you ask me.  They have to chop so much out that you barely end up with much story, primarily in Goblet of Fire, which is arguably the worst movie yet in terms of being a book adaptation.  The best one though is still Prisoner of Azkaban in my opinion.

I suggest the audiobooks though.  Not only do you get the whole story, but you get a very good narrator who can mimic many of the movie voices almost perfectly.  Stephen Fry I think was his name.

Even though the plot of the movies might not be so great, the special effects are still going to be rock-awesome, which is really the only reason I'm going to go see them. Also, I tried books on tape at one point in my life, but it just didn't work out. I'm never really in a situation where I'm sitting in one place next to a radio for more than one or two minutes at a time.

You want to talk about movies not being close to books go see Eragon. Why I have no complaints about the movie it wasn't close to the book at all. Several of my favorite parts were cut.A lot of information was left out, scenes were changed or mixed.Characters from the book were cut for some reason. Other then that it was still a good movie. I'd recommend seeing it.
I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney, then go for a car ride with Ted Kennedy.Neuf sed.

Yeah, I mostly did it on my Palm before I'd go to bed at night.  My brother however went through all 6 books from listening on his computer.

What we've learned:

Don't cook in wood shacks

Fat people should stay above ground

And people can't be kind when you make a mistake and believe in something cool.

(Also, Blue doesn't look at speedruns as they are still too long to watch)
