These links are all related, regarding the so-called beta Zelda 3 cartridge some guy got off of E-Bay.  Some folks are saying it's for real, but I don't really buy it.  It's more likely an elaborate hoax, possibly even by the guy who "bought" it.  The E-Bay item has even been taken down so we can't see the original ad.  But I guess we can keep up with the story and see what develops!

Anyone else heard anything aboot it?

Yeah I was pretty sure Zelda 3 was Link to the Past.

Well this was supposedly made before there was an SNES version.

As for this thing, first the guy starts selling t-shirts, promising the rom dump to the people who buy them first.  And in the newest bit of news, he reveals that the group who he thought he sold the cartridge to denies that the guy that bought it was one of them, basically.  This would mean the cartridge is possibly lost forever~~~~~  What a shock.  Just as I originally said, this seems to be a lame scam by this guy to get attention and profit.

I mean seriously, why would a "beta" cartridge be made in such a "buggy" state already in English?  The Zelda games are made in Japan first, then are translated and come here.  Also, games were developed with special rewritable hardware, not actual cartridges.  None of this story makes sense at all.

If in some small chance that a rom dump ever gets released, I'm sure it'll be some homebrew to carry on the hoax.  At which point I'm sure rom experts will discover it as a fake sooner or later.

I will also eat my goggles if this thing ever possibly turns out to be real . . !
