Title: Galactic Civilizations 2
Post by: Boris on April 29, 2007, 06:22:38 pm
I don't think I ever made a topic for this game, but I'm not sure why.

I just finished playing a particularly good round where It was me and a three of others (one 'hold my own borders', two warmongers)
Well somehow I got in good with everybody diplomatically. Nobody wanted to go to war with me thanks to a combination of my strong ships and yet kind treatment of them. About 2/3's of the way through, a global event hit and turned the 'hold my own borders' guy into a slowly dawning military GOD. By this time I'd already managed to seccure a permenant alliance with him though, so I was just able to follow his slowly increasing fleets around plopping down influence starbases everywhere. He never got quite strong enough to actually conquer the other empires, so my culture had time to seep into every corner of the map and secure for me a cultural victory.

ah the things you can acchive when the only other militaristic race in the game is the trade based one. All I had to do was slam a few influence bases down right next to his planets and cause them to rebel to me. He didn't even try to declare war because his set tactic was to do the same thing! Once his civilization was crushed, I didn't have to even go around plopping down more influence bases, I'd already allied with the other two, so we proved that (almost) everyone can be a winner, and all took that game.
