Title: City of Heroes
Post by: DracoLord Haven X on October 03, 2005, 08:06:05 pm
One of my favorite pastimes involves beating up the homeless, under suspicsion that they're guilty of something. Which is prolly true, since they all have pistols nowindays. However, as you get higher level, it's not 'ethic' to protect our streets from them. So I had to search out new prey in an area called 'Founder's Falls'

Here, I found a real, real large damn robot. One that should, by all rights, not be here. However, since it was classified as 'Giant Monster', it means everyone can attack it from 1-50, and damage will be adjusted due to the persons levels. The only downside is that you'd need 20 or so heroes to help take it down.

I wasn't too much help, even though I was wearing my sexy tuxedo costume with the glowy star effect to make me look famous. For some reason, swords from the middle ages can't quite damage giant metal robots. That, and the fact that I didn't want to die, I decided to scream for some help. We gathered a large amount of heroes, and this battle started. Here is an epic display of fireworks, murder, and all around fighting and loose teamwork.

After about 5-10 minutes of serious fighting, he finally fell over and died. I was so excited about this, that I decided to read a newspaper.

Thinking of you, Fyber, gave me the strength to stab it over and over again without dying.

I came real close one time, when he stepped on me. I got 1000 something HP, the step did 762 damage. Luckily for me, though, his large beam cannon never hit me. <3 super reflexes

Of course, it isn't just super fighting robots in City of Heroes. There is also quite a lot of magic crime, which makes me wonder why nobody has just nuked the city into the ground and started from scratch.

Of course, then you have to go outside the city at times, and face down armies of demons and cultists!!11! But in the end, I was the victor.

/me just won't stop.

You can't really tell, and really, I didn't notice this until I got up in his face and took the screenshot, but the Warhulk seems to have a dead, charred body sitting/floating inside of it. Quite freaky looking.

Here we go. Of course, most Red Caps aren't this large. These are just the strongest of them, and also the biggest. The smaller ones are also tough, but can't be seen as easy in a screenshot.

I went into the sewers to try and defeat the Hydra. I failed, but I got to keep a nice little present from the place.

I'll have more pictures from the failed sewer coup later.

I didn't do all that much awesomeness when I played, but maybe I can fish out a shot of my character, Rick Hardcore...

Ahh, here we are. I had a little rave in a dumpster before I logged off. That was a long time ago, but I think my friends are still playing.

Holy jesus. I think I just saw one of the most awesome thing I've ever seen in a video game. I recently hit level 40, which means I can go to almost all areas in the game, and meet up with some real high class villian groups and such. Some of the places included Portal Corporation (alternate demensions), the Alien Crash site, and...actually, that's it. But I took a look at one of the many demensions, a place called Firebase Zulu. After taking a few steps, in first person view, I got this awesome screenshot.

This is one of the few things that made me actually crap myself in amazement. I mean...I'm speechless. The whole base was on a floating island in a large void, and there were plenty of other islands in the background that you could actually fly to, with horrible, other demensionly monsters.

Ahh, Zulu's a nice place. I saw a buddy of mine jumping through it like a madman, once.

I've been kind of busy, I guess. Playing WoW on a completely different server and hanging out a lot offline...

HAHA, DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS.

Anyway, I decided since being wanted has no actual effect on police stopping you (Guess it's b/c ime teh fams dlhx), I did other missions, and got a good screenshot of my favorite supervillain, Nemesis. Or at least, a screenshot of a Fake Nemesis, which looks just like him, except is much weaker.

And I got to beat up two giant monsters with my Supergroup. Nobody else was around, so we took out Jack in Irons, and some pumpkin guy who isn't important enough to be posted here. He's ugly and hard to get a screenshot of, whereas Jack is a brand new model.

*Robot Jesus Nemesis steps on ugly Nemesis*

Anyway, the open(ish) beta for CoV is over, and it's gonna be released pubically on the 31st. However, they added the patch for City of Villains to City of Heroes, so now everyone in CoH can go to PvP zones, collect salvage, and do special zone events. Of course, the PvP zones aren't too much fun yet, since it's only heroes, but there is a Free-For-All zone.

The FFA zone is called Warburg, and appearently your goal is to kidnap/rescue scientists, who will have have part of a launch code. A code to what, you may ask? Why, a code to a giant nuclear missile. Once you find all the pieces of the code, you can get a temporary power, which basically calls a targetted air strike to your location that somehow manages not to blow you up in the blast.

Also, Super Reflexes=Best for PvP. I love it when there are tough guys trying to hit me, missing 80% of the time, while I just stab them repeatedly. I even got in a fight with another Super Reflex guy, but we just sort of stood there for about 3 minutes swinging at each other, missing, until we decided to call it a draw.

I decided to check out the hardest, most difficult guy in City of Heroes, and the leader of the Devouring Earth. For those not in the know, the Devouring Earth are a bunch of plants/rocks/shrooms that try to kill everyone. Hamidon is a tough guy, and with a team of about 40+ level 50 heroes, he'll take normally about 40 minutes to an hour to kill, although the fastest recorded time was 27 minutes. The glowy things you see around him is mitochondria, mainly antibodies, but some other kinds. He's a tough one, I'll say that much.

Okay, here's my suggestion... wait till winter when it freezes.. and smash it with a big hammer. Or.. get a straw... a bunch of straws... and have everyone drink all the cyroplasm away untill there's just the nucleus, then kick it.

time to waste some bandwith!

I've made two heros (and about 4 copies of Boris to try out different powers really, but I've got it down to one now) so far since DLHX kindly gave me the demo. The first one is based off a heroine I actually invented long ago, callued Tsunami. BORZ IS A CHICK JOKES TO A MINIMUM PLZ, I actually made myself too. Tsunami obviously has water powers, so I went for storm summoning in the buff catagory and gave her a bow + arrow fer some reason.

Now, here I actually am: A blaster w/ gun + tech junks. JUST LIKE FYBER WOULD OF WANTED~
I affectionately call my giant gun Thor, btw.

Finally, it's good to see that Leeroy's brother is getting along all right, after Leeroy's unfortunate whelp accident.......

When I read that text from Jack Firenze, I can't help but think of Gundam Wing where everyone is all like "Can peace through war really bring peace at all?"  And then I think of the battlefield of the pacifist manga where the badguys couldn't imagine peace and prosperity that they didn't control.  And then you go and have to fight giant robots of death.

COINCIDENCE?

WISE FWOM YOUW GWAVE~!!

So I got city of villains, but I need to buy a game card to even access the first free month. So I'm playing one of the 14-day trials. I have another if anyone wants to join me, ask and I may give.

Here is me my hero for now. I'm prolly gonna change the costume a bit more.
