Go Nintendo!
-
Yeah, Revolution FTW. It'll be three years after the release before any good games come out, granted, but still, it sounds like fun. I waited that same timeframe for good Gamecube games, too, so I'll be able to keep myself occupied.
-
I'm still waiting for good Atari 5200 games to come out.
-
I just totally voted Nintendo Revelution, no dubt
-
I totally voted for Nintendo. Duck Hunt remake all the way.
-
I can see them making some sort of shooter like that since the Revolution controller can be used like a gun. I think it'd be perdy awesome to remake Duck Hunt, and I usually aint keen on remakes . . !
-
Duck hunt's one of my favorite games.I'd love to see a remake, I play it every day on my top loader.
-
I played Duck Hunt every day until the light gun borked.
-
It'll just need to have that laughing dog and it'll be awesome.
-
I voted for the revolution, but I feel sorry for the PS3. MAYBE THEY SHOULD THINK OF A MORE CREATIVE TITLE.
-
I'm sure it'll have some awesome games though, like the next Gran Turismo and Metal Gear games.
-
Don't forget DDR!!
-
It'll just need to have that laughing dog and it'll be awesome.
If you could shoot the laughing dog it would be perfect.
-
I have to vote for the PS3. I refuse to buy the 360 because I hat Microsoft, and I'm still very skeptical about the controller of the Revolution. We'll see though, as we get closer to release maybe some amazing news/game will make me really want to purchase the revolution.
-
Only 2 next gens i want. Nintendo Rev cause ive been playing their games since i was 3, and the 360 for Halo 2.5. PS3.... well my friend next doors getting one so its kinda pointless for me to buy one
-
Definatly gotta go with Nintendo here. The new controller is just pure genious. Plus where else am I gonna get to play Zelda, Mario, and all those other awsome franchises that I gleefully throw my money at.
I'll probably get a PS3 after the price tag drops to something more reasonable (you know it's gonna outrageously expensive). Just cause Sony's usally got good games. 360 I refuse to buy, online game play does not sell to me.
-
I already got online gameplay on my PC cause of CS:S, HL2 deathmatch, WC3 Battle.net. So i wont be getting X Box live. I only want the Halo games
-
The Halo games come out for PC usually anyways so there's even less a reason to buy a 360!
-
Not anymore, Halo 2 and the rest will be X box exclusive because Microsoft is so poor and could use the money.
-
I thought Microsoft onwed the rights to Halo, so wouldn't they make money off of it no matter what platform it's released on?
-
Yeah, but a lot of FPS fans moslty play PC games and they only make money on thegame, if they make them buy a console and teh game they make more money.
-
I've always looked forward to the Revolution, and after the controller designs and functions were published, I look even more forward to it. It's gooing to be so awesome. I guess the other two consoles will be good too, but I've never liked Playstation and Xbox that much.
-
I thought Microsoft onwed the rights to Halo, so wouldn't they make money off of it no matter what platform it's released on?
Halo is owned by Bungie, which is in turn owned by Microsoft. The reason it will always come out for PC is because long ago Bungie made an agreement with Apple that every game they released would have a Mac version. Now, we all know Micro$oft would never hear of their precious games coming out on Mac and not PC, so there will always be a PC version of every Halo/Bungie game.
-
Heck, I just voted for Nintendo cuz I love it soooo much... However, everyone at my school seems to think Nintendo sucks. I don't know why. It could have something to do with badgers though\\
-
Such Nintendo fanboys us.
I'm not gonna buy any next-gens, really.
Conceivably though, I'd totally go for the revolution first.
-
Nintendo for me. Since the DS they havent really sold me on anything lately. The revolution shows promise.
-
REVOLUTION: Hell, I'd get it, but I'll wait.
XBOX 360: I'd get it as a gift, but i'd never buy it.
PS3: JUST WAIT.
-
This poll ends Saterday! S vote fast!
-
I'm going to wai on all three for at least a year or two, let them build their libraries, then buy a Revolution first, a PS3 second... and I may one day gets me a 360..... but I doubt it.
-
I'll buy me a Revolution when it comes right of the Nintendo production lines. PS3, I'll wait for the price drop and then I'll probably get one, playstation has so far had some pretty good exclusive games so I'm expecting the PS3 to also follow suite. Xbox 360 I'm gonna pass completly, I'm not much for online gameplay that I have to pay extra for so I'm gonna pass this system by just like I did the regular old Xbox.
-
Rumor has it that the Revolution might be as low as $200, where the other two next-gen consoles are expected to be $300+. If Nintendo can pull that off, they'll win big-time in terms of sales, I bet.
-
You mean like last time? Price helps, but if the games aren't there then the people may pass.
-
One example of that is the nintendo ds, and virtual boy. I might get an x box to just because of some exclusives they have I want to play.
-
Also don't forget the complete library of downloadable roms of EVERY Nintendo game from the consoles. I just can't wait.
-
Voting ends in... now. And by a landslide Nintendo kicks everyones ass! Thanks for voting, you can still post here I think.
-
I don't think it'll be every NES game, just ones from Nintendo, and perhaps a few others they might get licensing agreements with.
Also, I stumbled onto this bit of info (http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000420067137/) about something the PS3 may possibly employ. The gist of it is that you can only play a game on one particular unit, to prevent piracy and all that junk. Of course this is yet again one of those stupid technologies that would only hurt legitimate customers, since anyone out to pirate anything will just crack it eventually.
-
I doubt even they would do something that stupid, since almost anyplace that sells video games anymore either sells used games or rents. In fact, if they do it, it might just result in game sellers refusing to stock PS3 consoles and games! Really, they can't win, no matter what..!
-
Yeah, not to mention I dunno how they'd work out game rentals, so it's probably not likely they'd do it. But it's kind of sad that they would consider such a thing in the first place.
But hey, this is the same folks who put rootkits on peoples machines to protect music cd's, so I guess we can't be too surprised!
-
If that's actually true, you can be sure that Blockbuster's gonna throw out all their sony crap, hopefully replacing it with Gamecube games/Revolution games.
-
I would not be surprised. Take a look at the psp and how they're forcing everyone to convert to the 2.0 update in order to prevent emulation. All future games will require the 2.0 setting to play. Its how they make their money.
-
So maybe Nintendo will finally have the #1 consule domaninace it so deserves
-

I don't think it's too unreasonable to make people stop doing illegal things with their hardware in order to play their games, really.
-
You all realize you're forgetting about the 360 right? Really if the PS3 fails the 360 will be more likely to take its profits because they're so similar. At least, thtats what I think the course of action a regular person would take, and by regular I mean person taht doesn't play or buy many video games. However, if the Revolution works well I think it could possibly do the best, but thats a big if.
-
Why bigger if, mr Vito?
-
Because they're a lot of ways that Nintendo could do this controller wrong, and it could really turn off other developers for making games for the system. THings can sound good in theory but just can't be executed well. Like communism.
-
I gotta go with Vito on this one. Much as I'd live Nintendo to make a huge comeback, Microsoft will pick up any slack dropped by Sony first. Trust me, when I sold the things I was always trying to talk people into getting Gamecube... because they only ever asked "What would you get PS2 or X-Box" like GC didn't exist.
-
The problem with Kids and really everybody is that they only care about their image. Sony and Microsoft are seen as "cool." Nintendo is still dealing with the preception that they are a kiddy company. They tried to change this with the 'cube but I'd say that more or less failed. Nintendo's two goals with the revolution are probably to change it's image, and establish this new control method as the dominant means of play. After all they'd have the only patent on this technology, not that wont stop sony and Microsoft from stealing it if neccessary.
Their biggest worry is that the new controller won't catch on and be a simple gimmick instead of a real gaming revolution that it could be. Still only time will tell, but I think Nintendo's difference will give it a considerably greater share of the market than had in this generation.
-
I hope it works because none wants to see Nintendo become a thrid party company (except tools and facists, and Microsoft, and Russia)
-
Don't forget Cuba and Uraguay

X-Box 360 backwards compatibility = WARNK (http://www.gamersdaily.tv/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=152&Itemid=1)
I thought it was interesting that 007: Agent Under Fire, Mech Assault, and Splinter Cell won't work, considering these are the three games with flaws to allow you to soft-mod your X-Box.
-
They do what now?
-
Microsoft loves to shoot themselves in the foot don't they?
-
They do what now?
If you put the proper invalid save game file onto a memory card and try to load it or whatever with those games, it lets you execute arbitrary code, allowing you to basically override the BIOS to get mod-chip functionality without actually hard-modding your x-box with a physical chip. From that point you can replace the Dashboard software with custom software, and you'll basically have a hax0red x-box without ever having to open it up.
-
MORE X-BOX 360. Joystiq unpacks one (http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000710068346/), and AnandTech opens one (http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2610). I thought it was interesting that they put full-sized DVD drives into the system again, except SATA this time. And I like how the hard drive is in that little lump at the top of the system instead of buried inside.
/me updates post all day
"In order to take advantage of the backwards compatibility you need to have the removable hard drive attached to the Xbox, as a software patch will have to be downloaded from Microsoft's servers. The download process will happen automatically and you will be alerted if the title you're attempting to play does not yet have a patch available for it."
LAMMMEE. You can't just put an old game in and play it.
-
They make you use the hard drive to play backwards compatible games so they can make more money. It's their way of forcing people to buy the extra expensive hard drive version of the system at launch. They get rich and people pick up a piece of hardware they'll probably barely use.
-
XBOX 360
-
I never thought of that. The base system will be $300, and I always assumed it could play the older games out of the box. But with this bit of news, it means you need the $400 package to play your old stuff. Imagine the people who will sell their old X-Box's to get the new version, only to find that they're screwed now! Same goes for those without broadband, or without broadband near their X-Box, since it has to download the patches.
-
Suckers!
-
I truely feel sorry for anyone who traded in their old X-Box to get this one.
-
Thats why I stick with Nintendo, they dont scam people and their orignal. Unlike Sony who made remakes of old games and they sucked
-
Nintendo systems (save for Game Boy) have not been backwards compatable yet..... this will be the first time they are.
-
Also I just found this out in the paper today in regaurds to the 360. If you don't buy that $400 super value pack and instead opt for the standard $300 option, you have to spend 40 bucks on a memory card!! That's like highway robbery. Either pay $400 or you spend $300 and can't record your saves. It's not like Microsoft doesn't have enough money already.
-
And yet people will STILL buy it. When I worked at Ass Rape....er I mean Game Stop... I was always amazed at the fact that no matter HOW much I told people something was a piece of crap, and not worth getting (PSP....N-Gage.... 360) There were ALWAYS people who wouldn't listen and spent money on the friggin things. Then they did one of two things... 1) Traded it in bitching how much it sucked and that they were getting only half of what they paid back in store credit. 2) And this was my favorite, the people who KEPT the crappy new stuff they got and pretended to like it cause it's the "cool new thing". These poor bastards were easy to spot as they NEVER got anything else for the system again, or never spoke of the game again. If asked about it, they would typically respond "PSP? My... Oh yeah... uh... it's cool and all... what games? um... I'm still playing the ones I bought at release.... uh... yeah they're um....alright I guess.... Hey what's that? the new GBA game? have... you heard anything about it?"
I mean they wanted the Newest and best hardware and games, but then would bitch that Except for the graphics it sucked..... dumbasses... all of them.
-
Same with EB games, my friend traded in like half of his PS2 games, and he only got 6 fucking dollars. Damn cheap scapes, if they gave him the correct amount of money me and him could be playing Burnout Revenge.
-
lol then they take the games they gave you $1 for and resell'em at $5 below retail price. And people will then proceed to buy these used games with no case or manual, since it's a whole five dollars cheaper than the new copy. Which kind of goes along with Bluejay's "stupid people" thing.
-
Yet again. Suckers!
-

Oh no Fyber... that's the kicker... the people who bitch about the cost of video games (49.99 avg) are the same people who even if it's in mint condition will never buy used because it's ONLY $5 cheaper.... I mean the game could be in the most pristeen condition and they wouldn't touch it because it was used... and as we all know used means broken.
-
only 5$?
-
I buy used games.
-
You're one of the good ones Magus.
-
I heard the xbox 360 isn't that good.
-
*sniffle* I am so proud of you Magus.
-
why?
-
Funny story.
Our Target only got in 4 Xbox 360's. There was a line of 10 guys outside waiting to get one.
The ending: I don't know the details exactly but I'm pretty sure 6 people went home unhappy.
-
A friend of my grandmothers was telling me people were calling her store (Strawbrigges) and were aghast when she asked what an X-Box is.
-
o_O Really?
-
The people at my school only talked about 360, they didnt even mention Nintendo but me. Those that treat the world like Nintendo like it doesnt exist are (Blllllleeeeeeeeeppppp) suckers. They only like it cause its popular, soon though Nintendo will kill that Microsoft consule. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was talking to some guys and it seemed that some guys showed up at this target at 9pm, 2 hours before it even closes. But being as super cool as these guys were and having such a small number coming in, I don't remeber how many, so they just took the guys' names down and told them to go home so they wouldn't freeze. Also the LOD (a manager of sorts) and some other team memerbs actualy spent the night in the store to get one. I thought that was all pretty funny.
-
This reminds me of when I went to get my Gamecube on its release day, I got it finally at the third store, but was only able to get the system and Luigi's Mansion, no memory card for like a week.
-
lol all I had for my N64 at launch was Pilotwings.
-
I got my N64 with Star Wars Podracing
-

Happened to me too but I didn't have to wait a week to get a memory card.

Revolution to be unveiled on May 9, 2006 (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6140464.html)
-
OMFG BOOOOOO
-
gosh I so didn't expect to see the revolution revealed until E3 anyways.
-
I havent seen what it looks like yet
-
Nobody knows what it looks like. Except Miyamoto.
-
Yes, because he's building it by himself in his garage!
...but realy, what happened to that thing that had a stand for putting it up on it's side, and Gamecube porst, and other stuff like that?
-
These are all real as far as I'm aware. They say the system will be about the size of three dvd cases stacked.
-
Visually-modded X-box 360 (http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/360_window_mod_hard_drive.htm)
-
I must haves me one of those revolutions!
-
Such Revolution controller rip-off (http://joystiq.com/2006/01/06/revolution-controller-inspires-3rd-party-ps2-controller/).
-
Noooooooo... it's a... a new idea.... yeah.....
-
I, I see nothing. It's orginal and unique!
-
I, I see nothing but your mama at night meoooooooooooooooow

-
What in the blue monkey hell...
-
I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say this is a prime case of Noobitis. Symptoms include being a tard, and.... no that's about it.
-
Maybe we'd better recognize.
-
No, that will just make it worse.
-

Apparently the Revolution will also play certain Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx games. It also seems that small companies or even individuals will be able to make their own games to download through that service. Such unexpected.
-
That is so awesome. I am looking forward to playing Sonic on the Revo.
-
As I am looking forward to playing Toejam and Earl. And also Skykid.
-
Kid Chameleon all the way
-
Vectorman, suckas.
-
I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Revolution it be fun with experimenting with it.
-
I have 360, so it kind of goes in this thread, but it also kinda counts as off topic spam. 0_o @_@
-
Tis a paradox I tells ya!
-
Folks have warmed up to the 360 perdy well from what I hear. Word originally went from it supposedly being crap and scratching games and other such things to being one of the best designed systems in a while.
I've still never even played one, but I heard that even while playing games, you can bring up the menu/blade system to do whatevers. That's prolly handy.
That said, I still wouldn't spend $400 for a video game system.
-
Nintendo makes better quality electronics anyway
-
Nintendo makes better quality electronics anyway
AMEN TO THAT MAH BRUTHAH
-
Indeed
-
I don't want to get anything from Sony until they come out with a new robot.
-
Now what I wish is that it dosent take so long to get good games for new systems. Like with the Xbox 360 nothing good still come out cept that one Tom Clancy game as for as I know of.
-
PD Zero and Call of Duty are pretty good, but yeah, I'm holding off on the 360 for about three years or so. Also hoping the price at least halves in that time. As for Sony's next system... I've heard nothing that makes me really want it. I may get it in a few years or so.... the Revolution though I will most likely be getting it within the first year.
-
MORE RUMOR MILL ACKSHUN.
According to a quote from Nintendo's president (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/269772_e3iwata11.html):
We're using "affordable" in the sense that the price won't be significantly higher than Nintendo's prices have been historically.
$200 has been their historic price point for console systems as far as I know, and he's saying it won't be significantly higher, so that $250 rumor might be true after all.
-
Maybe $225? Also, forget any game consoles, if Robosapien V3 costs $500, that might be the only thing I ask for, besides Chibi Robo and the new Zelda games.
