THAT AWFUL DAY

For lack of a better name, THAT AWFUL DAY refers to the disagreement between FyberOptic and Professor Hazard, which took place in the Hazard Labs chat room on September 26th, 2005, at 1:01am. The personal conflict between the two resulted in FyberOptic leaving Hazard Labs, which lead to its unfortunate demise, and eventual rebirth into Snipe-Hunt.

In the days that followed, Hazard Labbers gradually migrated into the #fybertech chat room for lack of elsewhere to go, until the eventual opening of the #snipe-hunt chat, on a different IRC server. Many chose to make Snipe-Hunt their home, while some decided they would rather stay at Fybertech permanently. Another small few attended both, but over time this list would shorten to only a handful.

This event in effect marked the birth of Fybertech as a community, no longer just a personal projects page. As such, it was celebrated by Fybertech as a positive event on the one-year anniversary.

In-jokes have spawned from the event, such as implying someone is racist over trivial matters, or using the phrase "So Prof" or a variation of it, as described on the In-jokes and Peculiarities page.
