In-jokes and Peculiarities
Using broken English - Used to imply mockery or just a general nonseriousness to what's being said.
"LET'S TALK ABOUT TRAINS", or "this topic sucks and is now about trains" - Introduced to Fybertech by Buzzard, the phrase is generally a light-hearted method of implying a change of subject is recommended. Sometimes it's followed by linking to images of actual trains from 1chan.
Prepending "mister" or "misses" to a name - Introduced by Megagirl, thanks to her unique way of speaking and addressing people. When used by anyone else it's generally just a silly way of referring to one another. Other things introduced by Megagirl, such as people speaking in peculiar way, are too lengthy to cover in this article and possibly better answered in hers.
Calling someone a racist - A mocking of Professor Hazard's accusation that FyberOptic and his family were racists, which was one of the issues that resulted in THAT AWFUL DAY taking place. It's generally used when race is mentioned in any way, and many times done with broken English. These days, it's somehow mutated into bouts of casual racism for comic effect, generally between Armature and Boris.
Doing actions in chat without /me, or prepended by only a slash - The easiest explanation is that the action they're doing is usually meant in fun and meant to be taken much less serious than one made by actually using the /me command.
"Wana beer?" - An intentional misspelling to mock a comic Sino made long ago. Its use these days generally doesn't necessarily constitute disrespect towards Sino (althought it most certainly can,) but more of just a general in-joke used when alcohol is mentioned. It also doubles as one of several Sino examples used to compare to the worst comics ever seen.
/THROWNINSTALL - A term coined by Professor Hazard to mock FyberOptic when he would get angry at Gunbound and overreact by uninstalling it, combined with a mention of him throwing a Gamecube disc once in chat. It's now a general term used to refer to any situation that frustrates a player.
"om2", "om3", "OM4", etc - Variations of "omg", used to express varying degrees of surprise, but many times is used in jest. In a smiliar way, h9 h6 and the like are used in place of 'h8' for 'hate.'
"plx" - A variation of "plz", which was seen being used by members of another chat room during the Hazard Labs days, and then mocked by being repeated, as well as creating the variant "plix", which is the pronunciation of the mocked word.
Gay innuendo - A common way to joke at Hazard Labs, possibly starting with banter between Professor Hazard and Spug, it is less prominant at Fybertech, but still known to happen regularly between FyberOptic and Vito. They're not really gay. Really.
"So [insertname]" - Used to joke about a possible upcoming confrontation, since FyberOptic began his confrontation with Professor Hazard on THAT AWFUL DAY using "So Prof".
Using the -bert suffix on a name - Generally appended to a person's name to indicate some level of friendship. Origin unknown. eg. Fybert, Bluebert, Deckbert, etc
"By Billy, age 8" - "Billy" may generally be replaced by the person's name using the phrase, but it tends to imply a comedic or less-serious ending to a possibly previously long post or explanation, the subject of which may or may not have had a serious tone.
"Lazz0r" - Originally haphazardly used by FyberOptic when saying "later" to Vito, the two began a discussion which resulted in the creation of the Lazz0r phenomenon. As such, the word is still sometimes used to mean goodbye.
"latter" - Another purposely misspelled version of "later". While not responsible for the origin, its continued use is probably due to Theddy once stating that "latter means laughter in norway". This sentence is also sometimes repeated after the use of "latter", as is "latter menes lafter", or variations of such.
"throw keys" - Originated during the Hazard Labs RP entitled "Castle of Count Bathory", resulting when the entire group had been killed, with only Vito remaining to challenge the final enemy, composed from a pool of blood. Knowing he was probably going to die anyway, Vito attacked by throwing his car keys, which prompted the GM's response of "the car keys go through the blood like my hope in humanity". "throw keys" has since become a popular response to any difficult situation.
"Rocks fall, everyone dies", or just "Everyone dies" - Originated during Hazard Labs RP sessions, when the GM would get tired of the game and decide to kill everyone off.
Collguy - An intentional butchering of the words 'cool guy' to indicate that the person in question probably isn't cool in the least. First recorded as being said by Iddi, and possibly popularized by FyberOptic, but this is unconfirmed.
"JF" or "jay eff" - An abbreviation for "Jesus fuck", usually used when something was unexpected or unwanted. The latter of which is also an example of how many other words end up spelled out, sometimes for comedic effect. Origin is from Armature's first incarnation at the Labs when he posted in his diary for the MLMNLS "Jesus Fuck I hate Prof." He was ridiculed soon after discovery.
"hambry" - An alternate saying of "hungry". Origin probably Hazard Labs.
"clerly" - A variation on "clearly", generally used to imply sarcasm.
"goes home" - Sometimes done with an action, other times not. Used to imply a disliking or disappointment in something.
"more like a shitner burrito" and its variations - Originally said by Ecto, the phrase is usually altered, generally used as "more liek a [insert subject]", used to sarcastically or jokingly compare the current subject to something else. "Shitner" can also be used by itself in reference to William Shatner.
"Niggerwidget" - Not a racist joke in the least, Niggerwidget was Armature's desperate attempt to grab the name of one of the houses in Harry Potter that he couldn't remember. It has been shouted back and forth as a term of endearment or as an indication you don't know the name of something you are trying to remember.
"Mr.Boris Busy Please" - Unhappy response by Megagirl to Boris when he attempted to interrupt the chat log topic between her and her friend. Has since come to mean that the person is being generally distracting when you are trying to get something done, or just in general silliness to interupt someone.
"He's in the Vents / The Vents are clogged" - The Vent being clogged is a code-phrase for being in a situation where you cannot use a program like Skype because it would potentially bother other people in the area. This comes from a friend of Armature's who was screaming "HE'S IN THE VENTS" to online teammates at about 3 AM, while playing America's Army. Most frequently used by Boris.
"Where live?/ Want Do!" - A random exclamation by Mets on World of Warcraft to a cross faction player (a female Dranei preist if you care) which he was following around with Deck. Originally intended to be some form of innuendo, it has become an almost Ahnna-ism like phrase to be shouted whenever something is generally wanted or enjoyed. Gained popularity because of Mets' ability to yell it in a hillarious fashion over Skype.
F5 STROM - Originally an intentional typo by Fyber for a category five tornado, the confusion it lead to prompted him to infamously attach the phrase to his F5 key. As with anything readily and easily spammed, it caught on like a flash, and F5 strom is a general space filler or otherwise reference to spamming or confusion.
All Brid Away Fly - An (in)famous chat log in which Fyber began randomly pasting lines from the Ahhna/FireboyErin discussions on the forums into chat. The general whimisical nature of the lines and the confused reactions of other chatters ensured the log stayed saved for ages, and Fyber still occasionally references all brids (the mispelling is intentional) for humorous effect. Boris also has the log bound to his F6 key for quick reposting.
GOD BEES! - Usually spoken in bold and with bright green text to mirror FyberOptic. It began an exclaimation of his, literally regarding his dislike of the small bees that visited his house in the spring. It is surprisingly narrowly used, generally just in response to mention of stinging insects or to tag pictures of bees in 4get.
