Hazard Labs
Hazard Labs was both a website and a fictional flying laboratory, both under the command of Professor Hazard. Many of the early members of Fybertech originated from Hazard Labs, primarily due to the events of THAT AWFUL DAY, along other prior events during Hazard Labs' existance. Hazard Labs was eventually destroyed, both physically and fictionally, which lead to the creation of Snipe-Hunt, where the remaining members of Hazard Labs splintered off to.
As a website, Hazard Labs was host to numerous sprite-based and hand-drawn comics, original games, an encyclopedia of video game material known as the OMNIDEX, and even its own currency system, all managed by the Hazard Labs "operating system", OMNICORE. The website was physically managed by Spug and Bumblefly during its early life, later to be technologically overhauled by FyberOptic, who implemented a large amount of Fybertech to automate its daily upkeep and content.
Technology aside, the basis of Hazard Labs was its continuity, revolving around the flying laboratory referred to as the Hazard Labship. It was manned by a varied crew of characters, most of which personifications of actual members of the website. The overall plot was generally carried out through hand-drawn comics and stories, such as Ship Happens.
Other mostly unrelated comics hosted during the website's lifetime included Gordon by FyberOptic, Tech Crew by Boris, and Hindsight 20/XX by Vito. Both Gordon and Hindsight 20/XX are now hosted in the Fybertech Comics section.
A few days after THAT AWFUL DAY and FyberOptic's departure, the website suffered a primary DNS resolution failure due to mishandling, and on September 28th, 2005, it became inaccessible. Disappointed at the manner in which it had gone offline, FyberOptic enabled a backup DNS located on the Fybertech server, which allowed the Labs to mostly function for some until around October 2nd, when the hazardlabs.com domain officially switched to its present location.
Hazard Labs currently exists as a redirection page to Snipe-Hunt Media. Though the original site is rumored to still exist in its entirety on a backup server of FyberOptic's.
