Fybertech

In a tradition borrowed from Hazard Labs, which Fybertech broke off from, 'Fybertech' refers to both the Fybertech.com community and the story featuring the community's alter egos. For ease of use, the rest of the articles have been divided into 'User' and 'User (Character)' when the names are the same.

The Community

A good place to start would be the History. Beyond that, The Fybertech community is rife with in-jokes and pointless chatter, along with occasional technical wizzardry or spamming links to external sites with more interesting content. They're a model small internet community that exists to keep meeting up with old friends. Like a bar, but with no alcohol, and more nerds. Everyone still knows your name though.

The Story

Fybertech is the name of the group of protagonists in a collection of stories members have produced, starting with The De Novo Project. It is composed of a quasi-heroic group of people who alternate between geniuses with advanced technology and more film noir/gritty streets types. Together they're usually opposed to the gritty streets types with advanced technology trying to cause mayhem or cover up evil secrets. In general the organization goes by FyberOptic's principle that Earth is unready for advanced technology, especially directed too universally at weapons. De Novo sets a reasonably dark and serious tone to start from, and subsequent stories can be the same, or of a lighter more humorous tone.

The Word

As a term, "Fybertech" refers to any piece of technology created by FyberOptic. This originated at Hazard Labs, when FyberOptic began implementing numerous automations to the website, and has since become used to refer to creations in both real-life as well as in the fictional universe.
