The Name
FyberOptic became known by his alias when he began his tenure at Hazard Labs. This is because the members of that particular website preferred using AIM for all their instant messaging needs, where as Fyber had previously been a strictly ICQ and IRC user. "FyberOptic" was in fact his backup name used on IRC, with "MacGyver" being his primary and prized name (since getting a popular name on a large IRC network was near impossible). "MacGyver" of course being taken on AIM, as well as many variations of it, the account FyberOptic1979 was instead created, although never used until the aforementioned beginning of his membership at Hazard Labs.
Prior aliases include Zeltar, a combination of the names "Zordon" and "Eltar", since he is an avid fan of Power Rangers and Super Sentai. Before that, he also went by "Zordon", and earlier still, simply "Jeff". Of course, the latter two were during his days of BBS usage, where a popular name was much more likely to be available.
Abilities
These days FyberOptic is probably primarily known for his programming ability, which was first recognized by others during his stay at Hazard Labs from projects like Gordon, eventually leading to him being employed by the site. This began with normal daily maintenance procedures, but lead to many improvements in functionality, partially to remove the burdens of doing such daily grunt work. Website projects and experimentation increased his knowledge of web development and server management, which played an important role in the creation of Fybertech later on.
Prior to this, FyberOptic created and maintained Planet Zentax, which was primarily a site created for hosting Defenders of Zentax, the BBS door game he developed in the mid to late 90's, but the site later became home to other projects, such as Electris and Gordon. This was one of his earliest experiences with web development and Flash animation, which surely impacted on his later involvement with Hazard Labs.

FyberOptic owns and maintains Fybertech.com and Fybertech.net.
He is also competing in the FYBERTECH ULTIMATE BATTLE, hosted by Armature.
