FyberNET
FyberNET began as an offshoot of OMNICORE, the centralized "operating system" of Hazard Labs, created by FyberOptic. It was modified and moved to Fybertech for both content management and software development purposes, such as when developing an in-house message board software then named Fyboard, which was later scrapped, and the name re-used for the current Fybertech message board.
FyberNET allowed for a user login system, private inter-user messaging, and dynamic template-based content display. It lacked the currency system and more elaborate user privileges that Hazard Labs employed. It was written in the Perl programming language, designed to interface with a MySQL database.
Eventually the intitial concept of FyberNET was scrapped, and a new set of software designed in its place, retaining the same name. This software initially was for handling website news and things of that sort, but later evolved into a more elaborate content display software, somewhat modularized and capable of being inserted into other projects, similar to OMNICORE. This aspect helped lead to other website projects, such as Fychan, the Fybrary, and the Comics area.
Today, its user database interfaces directly with that of the Fyboard, no longer requiring two separate accounts as it once was. Website news and various content pages are also integrated into the forum, allowing for ease of modification.
