How bout that TMNT?
« on: March 24, 2007, 02:36:01 am »
Anyone see it today? I was impressed. The movie seemed to pick up after the third one left off. They did blend the movie story line with the new cartoon series. Although there were some 80's cartoons references here and there such as Aprils Kill Bill outfit. I say Kill Bill because it resembles Beatrix's costume rather then Aprils yellow outfit from the 80's cartoon. Overall I enjoyed this film. You have to see the roof top rain fight. I won't name which turtles have a slug fest. The CGI is incredible. The story plot could have been done a bit better.
It had a Scooby Doo and the 13 ghosts feel to it. I don't find the Washington Post to be a factual source. It's obvious this critic only spent ten minutes writing their review, and wasn't a fan. Stereotyping, harsh language, a plot that wasn't understandable? I don't know what movie this person saw! Obviously they are trying to make a lot of something out of nothing. I give the movie 4.5 out of 5. Check it out if you like the TMNT or CGI.

*The violence in this film is nothing more then what were used to seeing in the new and old cartoons except it's on a larger scale. There's no blood and there's no cursing. It's perfectly acceptable for anyone under 10 and over six. This movie could give the kid nightmares.
I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney, then go for a car ride with Ted Kennedy.Neuf sed.

I enjoyed the movie greatly.  Though I honestly felt everyone had a better sub plot than the turtles main plot.  Partick Stewart was a nice surprise and I coulda swore at times that Splinter was voiced by Mako (Uncle Iroh from Avatar) And I just checked IMDB, it was Mako. Another great surprise. (Though picturing Iroh training the Turtles is pretty funny.)  Like I said I enjoyed the sub plots more than the main story, I Felt that the writers had been much more creative in the warriors plot than the turtles. And the Foot's plot could be taken straight off the cartoon.  But since it was set up for a sequal, I was intrigued enough to say I'd go see that one too.  And I definately will be getting the DVD when it comes out.

I missed these green guys, and this definately did them justice.  I just hope any other revival movies will be just as good.  A Thundercats movie would rock, but more I'm talking about the Transformers movie, I have a bad feeling it won't be as well done.

Thundercats would rock if it's done the same way as TMNT. I cant see it as live action, it would be like Cats with fighting. As for Transformers we'll just have to wait and see. Despite all the character changes and Hollywood tweaks it could turn out alright. Just so long they don't turn Soundwave into a damn helicopter or video game console.

For me it is a little hard to believe that they made a TMNT movie.

Yeah but not in 3-D animation.

I hate to admit it but the 3-d animation seems to suit the turtles. Live action, as great as it was can end up costing a lot of dough to produce. It means we get more films on a regular basis. Lets cross our fingers that they get better writers then the producers of the scooby doo animated movies.

Well since they aparently used the same animators, the same writers would be obvious.  And something you said earlier Ecto, I noticed the 13 ghosts of SD similarity too, I was laughing about it in the theater, just waiting for Vincent Price.
