Hey, to visit a blocked site, all you have to do is:
A) Bring up Internet Explorer
B) Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/
C) Translate from Chinese Simple to English
TaDa!!

XD
Good tip. I'm sure lotsa folks are stuck behind filters at their schools.
-
Ya...and they'll tell all of their friends that I was the one who told them...
-
ACTUALLY~
Many filters block loophole sites like babblefish, ip anonymizers, and proxy's. My school even blocks google's cache. XD
Your best bet often times is to find a small private proxy. And so often those will get blocked eventually once the filter catches up to them.
-
Oh well... I don't know any small translating websites so I'll just stick to Babelfish...not that you really need to visit blocked sites...
They're blocked for a reason you know...
Just not for a good one...
-
if we blocked this site because of spam that wouldent be a good reason?
(not that it's too much spam at this site, plz dont block it (as i think you wont))

That ain't how it works, Theddy-man. Fyber can block you from the site, but the school or whatever has to block sites through the router or something to get it blocked for everyone. Just like my school has blocked downloading of .exe files, to prevent people from installing stuff they don't know what is, etc. Actually, we aren't allowed to install anything at all. ANYWAY, that's pretty much like I can block you from any site I want with our router at home, if I'd want to. MIHIHIHIHIHI.

I'll get in trouble if I do that in school.
-
Do you know how stupid that post just made you look?
-
what the hell are you talking about?
-
I'd hate to break this to you, Magus, but you've stubled into the less-than-perfect-but-not-as-horrible-as-it-could-be part of the internet. Everyone knows you can get in trouble for going to blocked sites, they're blocked because the people who run the network don't want you to see those sites. But some people here might consider doing so anyway. Consider it for a while, and then maybe actualy do so. Because that's how wreckless we are here. Wreckless and corrupt.
-
Thats stupid.
-
And that's why I don't. But I probably will if the world is ever taken over by some horribly evil organisation and I need to be able to access blocked sites in order to help the ressistance. And that's why knowing information like this is important!
Of course, we don't need to worry about stuff like that, because everyone knows that our future will end up like it does in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Actually, I found a new way that makes E-Mail accessible to anyone on a shitt computer network.
First, go to an e-mail thing like http://www.gmail.com.
This is obviously blocked.
Lets look at the http:// part. Does anyone know how to access over a secure server?
Select the spot between the http and the ://. Put an s in there.
It now says https://www.gmail.com.
Upon hitting enter, it will ask if you want to access over a secure connection.
Say yes. Or click the checky-box thang.
Problem solved.
Unless you use gmail. If you just go straight to www.gmail.com, you would normally be redirected to the correct site. Accessing on a secure connection does the same thing, redirecting. Just go to the address bar and put in the s again.
Problem really solved.

If you're at a school or on wifi or some other publicly accessable internet, you should really use the https all the time, since it's secure. I believe you can do the same with Yahoo Mail.
-
https? I'll have to test this tomarrow at school.
EDIT: OOP, IT ONLY WORKS ON EMAIL. SILLY ME.
-
If you were trying this site under SSL, then I don't have it setup to go to the same place securely. Though I guess I could fix it up to do so sometime.
-
Nah, we don't wanna waste your time?
Anyway, you could just leave it until one of us has problems getting into fytech 4ums @ scol.
-
Too late, I already do!
-
WELP, I implemented HTTPS for the main site, but I didn't take into account that the forum uses HTTP by default when you click links. I might could fix that too, but let me know if you can access the main site at all via HTTPS before I go fer it.
-
Works just fine for me. I'll field test it tomarrow at school.
