Curmudgeon Gamer (http://curmudgeongamer.com/2006/05/history-of-console-prices-or-500-aint.html) has compiled the data about the absolute and relative prices of all the major consoles over the years, making the newer systems prices look less awful compared to older systems. Though all said and done, the other more expensive systems in history (Neo-Geo, CD-i, 3DO, etc) never caught on, either.

Wow. That's all I gotta say.

1000 dollars for a NeoGeo?
/me spews coffee all over the place

I don't know of anyone who ever owned or even wanted one at the time. Especially when the cartridges were about $200+.

Neo Geo was retarded, I see. Same with 3DO

At least the 3DO had Star Control 2, which is what lead to Ur-Quan Masters being developed, since that's where they got the voices and nicer music that the original PC one didn't have.
