Title: Cartoons
Post by: Boris on December 19, 2004, 04:36:57 pm
Who watches cartoons much, besides me?

If you got a favorite be sure to tell about it to us.

My favorites for the month are MegasXLR and Justice League.

I haven't watched cartoons in a while, but that's just because we have virtually no tv.  I like Teen Titans.

I actually don't like anime. The shows I mean, not the art styles. I just find them to be sub-par entertainment.

I like F-Zero GP Legend. It's real good. Digimon was also nice. If only they hadn't canceled it! :(

I couldn't really get into F-Zero GP myself, but the Digimon theme will be embedded in my brains for all time.

Since the only other post other than what you mentioned talks about Megas XLR, I figured someone should probably tell you that Teen Titans isn't anime. It's Batman the Animated Series trying really really hard to be anime, and failing.

As for the sub-par entertainment part, it's probably just too cerebral for you, but what do I know, I'm not the world's biggest Code Lyoko forehead-fan or anything. coughfrenchanimecough

The only anime that I ever got into was Gundam Wing... but I haven't seen any episodes on T.V. since a year ago, when they had a marathon from 12:00 - 2:30 for two days. However, I got my hands on 3 DVD's from the series. I loaned 'em to my friend and haven't had them back since... If you don't know who I am talking about, his name is Robinator. However, it never fails to make me laugh how whenever some idiot OZzie says IT'S A GUNDAM! If you don't know what happens immediately afterwards watch a few eps and you'll see.

I like Futurama more though, because there is actual character development and references to past episodes. Also, I feel like I can identify with Fry and his quest for reciprocation of love from Leela.

I USED to like Digimon, but now that im older, its just stoopid now, and anime just doesnt make sense to me, like when i watched Gundam when i was 6, i had no idea what was going on now, and then. But i do occasinaly watch One piece and Family guy, american dad, Futrerama, Simpsons, and even King of the Hill (Hank is way too patriotic though). And Teen Titans is alright I guess :-\

I tried to watch One Piece since I liked the theme and heard the show was good, but it was way too silly for me.  Prolly didn't help that my senses were already damaged from having just watched GI Joe: Sigma 6.
Title: Re: Cartoons
Post by: Shadow on September 18, 2005, 12:27:44 pm
Ah GI Joe, used to be a good old school T.V show, but then they had to make something good, into a overly modifed crap fest O-barf. Why must they do this to us?! Now the kids of this age, will have there brains warped by the T.V of this era. Of course most of us here are not affected cause of video games, but what about the children. They will never see classic shows, like Looney toons, GI Joe (original) or even that frog that sings.
Title: Re: Cartoons
Post by: FyberOptic on September 18, 2005, 02:31:39 pm
It's mostly just to make money anyways.  The content doesnt matter as long as they can sell lots of overpriced cheaply-made toys from that recycled plastic crap, since it's based on a popular name like GI Joe.
Title: Re: Cartoons

I liked Megas when it was on. They moved the time slot to 3:30 am on Fridays. Next theyll probobly cancel it. I rather thought the opera episode was annoying, but I did like Dexter. My favorite ep has to be the power ranger spin off.

Title: Re: Cartoons

Frozen Throne leaves off two months after Archimondes defeat at MT. Hyjual. And Illidan is back, as a demon. And lets not forget that traitor Arthas, God i hate that guy. He's now king of the Plaugelands, aka Lorderon.
Title: Re: Cartoons
Post by: Armchair on October 01, 2005, 03:07:20 pm
I hain't played through it in a while but, the High Elves become 'Blood Elves' and being serving some demon of some sort with Nagas. Then Arthas beings to lose his power and goes on a quest to regain them in the Frozen North where he beats the hell out of Illidan in an awesome CG scene. Then the Lich King takes over his body.
Title: Re: Cartoons
Post by: Shadow on October 02, 2005, 10:43:15 am
And in WoW The Scrouge are gaining ground in Lorderon, aka The Plaugelands which bring ominious rumors that Arthas is returning. And if Arthas comes back, the Forsaken and Sacrlet Crusade are screwed big time. And it doesnt help with the fact that because Ner' Zhul fused with Arthas making him one of the most powerful beings in Azeroth. Fun fact: Illidan isnt dead.

We get thge point Buzzard. And now by todays standards WC1 is kinda lame, mostly because EVERY unit on the human side sounds the same, same with orcs
Title: Re: Cartoons
Post by: FyberOptic on October 03, 2005, 05:33:50 pm
You also can't build anywhere unless you place road nearby in the original.  They eliminated that in WC2 of course, but then when they introduced the Zerg in Starcraft, they paved the way for WC3 to again start making some races require you to only build near town.  It's not really a bad thing though.

Sound isn't the only thing that makes a game, and neither is graphics, although they do help. Tell me, did tetris have graphics or sound? No. How about Mario? Nerp, none there either. Hell, Doom 1 had crappy graphics by today's standards, but it was fun.

I miss the longing I once had to see them again... but now it's gone. I am afraid to see Count Duckula again... I miss it... but at the same time... On Thursday, Code Lyoko kept skipping ahead whenever it moved from one person's point of veiw to the other, usualy cutting someone off mid-sentace. On Saturday, the same thing happened with Billy and Mandy, exept then it was going to a commercial.

Usually thats just the crummy voice acting or a timing thing, the dubbing has never been good. So its usually not so much Cartoon Network's fault. Who cares, I still watch CL anyway (well, I watch torrents of it, but whatever.)

Most toonami animes do. They're generally just shallow shows with lots of pretty action, thats not to say Adult Swim is much better but once in a while they show the good stuff like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and FLCL.

Edit: Shit, I forgot One Piece was a Toonami show. I loves that show, the charaters are quite likable and it has one of the best show intros I've heard in years.

Everyone has their own view on things. Take me for example, I think that anyone who likes Geogre W. should stab themselves in the eye with a very sharp pencil

Yes, because not liking an anime and not liking a president are so similiar.

Quiet you. It wasn't based on the Ocarina of Time Zelda, it was based on the original two, and Link had brown hair. I don't remember them much, but they seemed good and fun like Captain N. I remember watching the Super Mario Brothers Super Show and always hoping a LoZ cartoon would come on. Years later and many web pages surfed later, I found out that those cartoons came on Fridays, which didn't matter much because I was young and didn't go to school so the only day I knew was Saturday because had the best cartoons.

People do have their own opinions shadow. I'm sure people like Michael Moore, Ted Kennedy, and Senator Kerry are truly great americans to admire. Im being sarcastic by the way. If you want to download some LOZ episodes I think http://www.zeldapower.com/ may still have some. If that doesn't work go here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml. Just type Captain N or Legend of Zelda in limewires search engine and your good to go. Captain N Potion of Power had the best animated Gannon.
