Title: Childhood movies
Post by: Bluejay on October 25, 2005, 06:37:28 pm
So I stopped by the ol' video store today and picked up "The Witches" on DVD.  IHaven't seen it since I was little, and now i know why... it'll cause kids nightmares.  But it got me wondering, what movies that were supposidly for kids would frighten them rather then entertain.

Another I can think of is Willy Wonka.... Damn I mean... you see a chicken get its head cut off. Sick.

the positive colors and fascinating setting (at the time of its release, at least) softens it a little. But seriously, the new Willy Wonka movie made me shiver with its bleak madness.

Speaking of movies from childhoods, Father Goose is a classic, starring Cary Grant and Leslie Caron. It's pretty funny, considering it was made before anyone on this site was born.

I think Children of The Corn would give a child nightmares.

That'll give most people nightmares. I can't think of a freaky kids movie off the top of my head though.

Water Ship Down, good lord, it's an animated childern's family movie about cute fuzzy flopped earred bunnies being killed.  I mean a whole rabbit's den filled with dozens of them get bulldozed by a construction company and it shows the rabbits underneath getting toppled and thrown and buried.

I thought the movie was more stupid then anything else. Although it did have Goldberg as Santa most of the time I was laughing.

childhood movies that scarred for us for life? I dunno the name, all I can remember is an evil spirit posessed a microwave, and totally ignoring what microwaves really do, used it to MELT SOME DUDE'S FACE OFF.

Oh that movie where Ben Savage went under his bed and it was like a monster world. That movie is still pretty creepy if you ask me. It was something monsters I think. Howie mandel was the main monster dude.

Little monsters. Because the monsters ARE the children.

Yeah, if they were in this monster world too long they shrank some and became the monsters.

I don't remember exactly what it was, but something came on HBO a long time ago, called "Monster in the Closet" I think.  This short little monster would kill people and drag them into its small closet, is about all I remember.  NIETMARES.

That reminds me of that stupid movie "Boogeyman", where a black man covered in smoke would drag people into a closet and supposedly kill 'em. He also managed to suffocate a guy with a plastic tarp. I think he also killed a woman by staining her bathwater with his smoky wrapping, but I can't remember for sure.
