Saint Patrick's Day is, unfortunately, on the 17th of March this year.
-
Wuv St. Patricks day. It reminds me of my Irish heritage and how in reality all Ireland will ever be good for is Beer and Leprechauns.
-
and combinations of the two.

That's usually how it happens.

wow man mad
-
Damn, India really hates people loving each other on Valentines, which kinda is the whole point of the holiday
-
Actually, it looks like the only people in India who are hating Valentines day is the incredibly conservative Shiv Sena (Army of Shiva?) political party, like it mentions in there. Aaand, the reasons they're doing this are 1) because they want attention, and 2) THEY WANT ATTENTION. BITCH.
What's more, they can't even spell "valentine" right. I mean, gosh.
-
At least they're not killing people over it. Last thing we need with all the other shit going on is another Valentines Day massacre.
-
I know all I need are beatdowns.
-
They don't like valentines day b/c tiny embarassing penises. Prevent love and you never have to worry about it . . !
-
This will be the first year that I have physically been with someone on VD, (Yes I know what VD means, you know how I intended it) so I am fully hoping to enjoy it.
-
I will never be worried about not going out of my way on Valentines day, as I have assured myself that it is all just a big ploy by the corporate world to make money.
-
That's Easter, and Thanksgiving
-
Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, and Thanksgiving is a holiday that America started observing in the 1600s, to celebrate the things one can be thankful for, with the Wampanoags and the Pilgrims and what not. It is true that corporations take advantage of these holidays, but they have religious or cultural meaning.
-
And Haloween is kind of a conglamorite of several holidays that got smushed together and then went insane. That's why people are trying to kill it off.
-
They sell Halloween candy so early it goes bad before Halloween. THE MORE YA KNOW.
-
My Wall marts getting greedy when it comes to holiday candy. They started putting up Valentines day stuff the last week of January. They put things up earlier, and earlier every year.
-

Candy doesn't go bad. NOT EVER!
-
Pop corn balls do. I need to throw away the ones I have left over from Halloween.
-
Last week of january isn't bad Ecto.... I mean, I saw Christmas decorations up the day after Halloween. I mean that's BS. I like Christmas and all, but it shouldn't get two fucking months worth of calander space.
-
I saw them BEFORE Halloween.
-
Damn... I LOVE Halloween... and Christmas is getting WAY too big, it is just ONE FUCKING DAY PEOPLE!! Remember a little Holiday called Thanksgivivng? Yeah happens in November? Comes Before the Jolly fat man that forces us to go broke "In the spirit of giving". Yeah, Thanksgiving..... now that I think of it I think Christmas is quickly falling lower and lower on my list of favorite days... but this is a discussion for another topic I guess......
FUCK YOU CHRISTMAS!!
-
SUCH BITTERNESS
-
He's clearly a jew.
-
Too bad people don't know what christmas is really about. The birth of Jesus. Now it's become a capitolist holiday.
Oh yeah, and St Patricks day is also my parents Anniversery.
-
Whats bad is groups are trying to take Jesus out of Christmas. That's really, really dumb.
-
I blam liberals.
-
KIL THEM ALL!

Yes, quite true, quite sad.

Really? The only thing I've seen close to that is people trying to get grocery store clerks to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". And one case of the opposite, but that's a different story.
I blam liberals.
oplz
KIL THEM ALL!

Ok, Ciono's confused now. (btw, HitomiBoy, I love that avatar).
-
Yeah, he showed me that this morning. I guess it's one of those jokes you have to read Harry Potter to get. I know I did!
-
;D ;D ;D
Anyway, they did try and take Jesus out of Christmas. They now call the nativity scene the Holiday Homeless People, And Jesus is now the Holiday Infant.
They also already succeeded in taking St. Valentine out of Valentines day.
-
OLD. Hey, they managed to take the Paganism out of Christmas, now they're just taking the religion out of it once again. Sounds like capitialism is the next religion to take over all the holidays!
-
Catholesism is still a poly-theistic religion, but instead of various Gods that do and explain everything, there are saints.... Anyone else notice this?
-
That's a really interesting point there, Bluejay. The whole "patron saint" thing reminds me of greek kingdoms that had a patron god. Very interesting indeed.
-
I've always noticed that, just never pointed it out. Patron saints aren't the same as Patron gods though. Saints don't actually do anything, they're just people to look up to and ask for help. Patron gods were just like they sounded, Gods that you prayed to and believed could and would help you if you gave them offerings and such. Still, it's a true and probably lesser known point.
-

That sounds pretty much the same to me Buzzard, you pray to both for aid.
-
HMMMMM...! I blaim religion for making me biased. NEXT TIME GADGET, NEXT TIME...
-
So why would you pray to Saints and Mary when your prayers dont reach God through them? I never quite understood that.
-
Technically, in the Catholic Church, everyone is a saint. However people like Saint John Paul 2, for instance, are people who have reached a point of holiness to where god has done miracles through them. Curing the blind, water to wine, etc... Saints are by no means Gods, simply EXTREMELY holy people.
Mary is different. Mary was immaculately conceived Mother of God. She is pure and completely free of sin, and so if you pray to her and she sees it right, she can ask Jesus (God) to do it. Jesus will do it if mary asks him to, because if Jesus always does what mary asks, knowing she will not ask something impure.
Now as for the Trinity itself, the Trinity is one God, God is the Trinity. Complex yet simple.
-
Christains believe that there is only one God, but the nature of God is one of relationship and love. This is expressed in the belief in the trinity (for most Christians) being three persons, father, son and the holy spirit in the one being of God. If I offended anyone with my last post it wasn't intentional, but thanks for answering.
-
Basically what it all boils down to is this..... We're still trying to worship many gods.... but keep the appearance that we're no so we can persecute "pagans".
-
Hmmmm... I have an answer to that! Pagan gods are multiple entities that are said to be actual GODs. Saints were actual people who performed miracles. There isn't a single saint out there with the exception of maybe St. George the dragon slayer.
-
This is why I favor Buddhism.
-
Shit, Buddhism even tells you you don't have to believe in its teachings.
-
;D my gf owns :-* lol gangsta ::)
-
This is why I'm going for the Agnostic approach, believe in god, but question it.... I figure it's safe enough.
