a tonne of simple games (http://www.tonypa.pri.ee/start.html)
A Tale in the Desert, an MMORPG. (http://www.atitd.com/) I think I might give a small review of it for all (5) of you contemplating on whether or not to download the client.
Like a lot of other smaller MMORPGs, they don't include a newbie tutorial, which sucks. They also don't let you have a very wide range of appearance variation. Also, the terrain and water inhibitions are annoying and dumb. Can't the characters walk and swim like normal people? Other than those fairly large limitations, it seems like it'd be pretty fun and novel game, with features that are considerably different than most other games of similar type. You would have to take a while to get a good hang of it, though.
As for a newbie tutorial for all (0) of you who actually downloaded the client, I think I'll fabricate one myself. SO, one of the most useful things in the game is the map, which can be toggled on and off by pressing F3. The words on your map mean different things. If they begin in S or U, it means that there is a School or University of the following subject on the black dot closest to that word. You can also click on yourself to bring up a menu of various commands and features, some of which might be of use to you. The bright, shiny buttons in the top-left corner of the screen have other purposes. The two on the far right bring up windows telling you about your goals. The one on the right tells you your current goal, and the one to the left of that one shows you a chart full of places where possible future goals could go. The first goal you have in the game is becoming a citizen, which you can do by completing the list of simple tasks found under the "Welcome to Egypt" tab in the lower-left corner of your screen. This quest keeps the clumsy and the retarded from becoming Egyptians. Other buttons that might appear in the upper-right corner of your screen might have functions like allowing your character to collect resources from the surrounding area, actions which are useful in completing your basic motor skills citizenship quest.

-
So why didn't Vegas see it?
-
I'm guessing that summoning them has more to do with perception than anything else, since if you're not looking for tiny orange-ish balls in the sky, will you notice them very well? To me they seem like they'd blend in with the clouds. There's also a heory that says humans don't notice things that are too weird to seem real, and aliens would seem invisible even if they were right in front of you.

POPPYCOCK. I think I'll have to remind you that the Action McNews Network's unspoken motto is "Anything for the ratings." Even if this video isn't the fault of the news networks, those objects are up there. And I think i'll side with the government on this one; if anything - ANYTHING - is spherical, yellow, and hovering in the air, it's got to be a (http://www.accessnoaa.noaa.gov/images/nws16.jpg) weather (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mpx/history/balloonparachuteinstrumentlaunch.jpg) balloon. It's possible that it was allowed on the air simply because of how easily debunked it is, in order to discredit alein sightings as a whole.
I don't think so. These news channels have got to know that their viewers are too stupid to realize that message.

FreeDOS version 1.0 is out! (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=608122)
And while I'm talking about operating systems, I should mention that I found this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRON_Project) that says the world's most used operating system isn't Windows, but Tron (http://www.tron.org/index-e.html). I don't think anyone would want to use Windows for embeded systems work or little gadgets that don't have huge amounts of RAM or super fast processors, and a lot of electronics are from Japan World, so it does makes sense.
This place has some perdy neat stuff, especialy Sthenos. (http://www.chaoseed.com)

I can't seem to find any sort of changelog for FreeDOS to see what all's been added since I last used it.
Actually, FyBBS runs off of some version or another of it, too, on top of DOSEMU.
-
From the news thing, it seems like most of the updates have been to high memory access, although there's some other stuff here and there.
This thing (http://www.shiftspace.org/) might be neat, if you don't mind using Firefox every once in a while. Seems kind of shifty though.

The world mourns a clown. (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/I/IRELAND_CIRCUS_DEATH?SITE=7219&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-08-29-08-07-46)

That was nice of Micheal Moore. Also, the narratoin reminds me of Matilda.
-
Wow. That's pathetic. On botrh sides. They shouldn't be preaching hate, some of what they were saying is true though. Homosexuality is a sin and if you don't give your life to Christ you will go to Hell. But being gay is not an unforgivable sin, not that there are any that I know of.
And Mikey was just as bad, he went around harassing people with his gay van instead of like, debating it like somebody who had a brain. That and I didn't like the film of the fags being all gay all over each other.
-
I think everyone pretty much knows Michael Moore is an asshole who is only out to push his own agenda in everyone's faces. But Westboro church is 10x worse than him, with their whole "Thank God for IEDs", and "Thank God for dead soldiers" bullshit, so I don't feel too bad about it this time.

*Question 17= BEST*
-
Hi I'M BACK! I almost forgot about the forum. :( I was totally BUSY! I've not heard about the 7th book yet. The 5th Book's movie is coming out 7-13-07. (Thats what I saw at the movie theater)
-
I think I'll see the movies for the special effects jollies, but pass up on the book. In my opinion, her writing began to deteriorate after the third one.
-
The books have all been better than the movies, if you ask me. They have to chop so much out that you barely end up with much story, primarily in Goblet of Fire, which is arguably the worst movie yet in terms of being a book adaptation. The best one though is still Prisoner of Azkaban in my opinion.
I suggest the audiobooks though. Not only do you get the whole story, but you get a very good narrator who can mimic many of the movie voices almost perfectly. Stephen Fry I think was his name.
-
Even though the plot of the movies might not be so great, the special effects are still going to be rock-awesome, which is really the only reason I'm going to go see them. Also, I tried books on tape at one point in my life, but it just didn't work out. I'm never really in a situation where I'm sitting in one place next to a radio for more than one or two minutes at a time.
-
You want to talk about movies not being close to books go see Eragon. Why I have no complaints about the movie it wasn't close to the book at all. Several of my favorite parts were cut.A lot of information was left out, scenes were changed or mixed.Characters from the book were cut for some reason. Other then that it was still a good movie. I'd recommend seeing it.
-
Also, I tried books on tape at one point in my life, but it just didn't work out. I'm never really in a situation where I'm sitting in one place next to a radio for more than one or two minutes at a time.
Yeah, I mostly did it on my Palm before I'd go to bed at night. My brother however went through all 6 books from listening on his computer.

It'd be more awesome if they'd release the server as well, so that people could run their own without dealing with lag and having to buy land. But then they'd lose all their business I suppose~!

Also those folks don't believe in Jesus, so... they don't think Cruise exists...?
-
Whether Jesus Christ was real or not is a question which we will never know the answer to because of all the editing done to religious texts over the years. Also, Army, it's not like they're literally saying Cruise is the son of Xenu or whatever, they just mean that he's pretty much going to be the one person who everyone remembers when they think of that cult.
-
I watched a show the other day on the history channel about christians going to extemes to protect the truths of the religon from people, it was amazing what they did.

Gay/Democratic/anti-Nascar slogans on your car + driving in redneck America = OSHIT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6MJVzXbqRU&eurl=)
These are the fellows from Top Gear, doing one of their typical contest types of things against one another. The episode was special because they used the entire episode to do this overall contest instead of reviewing any cars, in which they came to America, had to buy a car for $1000 or less, and then drive from Miami to New Orleans with it. Unfortunately, being British, they used it as pretty much an opportunity to point out that America is full of fat, stupid, gun-toting retards. It doesn't help that they went to some of the worst places in America, but after what happened to them when they pulled up to a gas station in Alabama with particular slogans painted on their cars, I'll cut them some slack..! Overall it was a funny episode.

That was a cheap shot towards Gore Bluejay so don't take it personally. I was saying that you could blame him for the creation of the internet, and the fact that he doesn't follow the global warming prevention guidelines he gives everyone else. If your going to scare America into the whole global warming thing lead by example. Also best President? Clinton was an embarrassment.

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but I did hear something recently about how BBC reported on one of the surrounding buildings on 9/11 fell several minutes before it actually did, even though the building was still obviously standing in the live footage behind'em. WELL, now, coincidentally enough, BBC has apparently lost all of its footage from 9/11 and can't verify any of that (http://infowars.net/articles/february2007/280207BBC.htm). Note that this page has quite a bit of conspiracy theory stuff, but it was interesting nonetheless.

What's that? Mac OS found less secure than Windows? Linux found less secure than Windows? The Slashdot community are in full denial mode today!
-
In my defense, OSX never crashed on my except that one time I had a faulty wireless card.
-
That study was just about security though, not stability. I'm sure OSX is fairly stable since it runs on unix these days. But at the same time, XP rarely ever crashes on me either, which has pretty much been the case for Windows in general ever since they put the true 32-bit WinNT/2000 core in their average consumer desktop OS's (starting with XP). There's really no reason for any computer running any modern operating system to outright crash, aside from faulty apps (usually third party, and ones that interact with the system at a lower level) and faulty drivers (again, third party). That's the only things that's ever caused mine to crash. Third party apps make a product look bad when they make it break, which is partially why Windows has such a high public perception of instability (more third-party apps to crash it), while Mac has more of an image of stability (most software people run is from Apple themselves, then immediately followed by big boys like Adobe). It's part of the reason they won't give an SDK for the iPhone, because they don't want its image to be tarnished with possibly poorly coded software.
Anyhoo, as for security, it's no surprise that Vista would take the lead, considering the entire OS was restructured with a security mindset. Mac was after that (arguably from its small marketshare), then XP. All fairly expected in such a comparison I reckon. But then comes the funny part, with Linux trailing behind those, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux (a pay version for companies!), despite all those claims that Linux was the most secure.

Gordon gets his own show. http://www.flashgordon.com/
lol that show was fucking terrible. My brother Tivo'd it, and he ran through it to show me bits, and it just looks like the typical lame-o sci-fi channel job. It won't last a season if it's all like that first episode.
-
Hey, don't go dissing Flash Gordon now. The show's older than any of us or our parents. Or at least Flash Gordon the 1920s/1930s serial is.
-
Its really pathetic when the 80's film has better special effects then the remake.
-
First off, the remake's on Scifi, the king of bad writing and cheesy special effects. Second, the bad special effects are part of the charm. Go watch some of the serial version and watch the rocket ships flying around with visable strings attached to them.

I lol'd.
But yeah, Sci-fi channel rarely manages to make anything worth a poop. Even Battlestar Galactica has its typical Sci-fi channel "ugh" moments from time to time, but I just continue to watch it since I've gotten this far into it. It wouldn't matter if Sci-fi got a license to make a Star Trek series, I'm sure they'd fuck that up too.

I guess the price is okay compared to normal iPods, considering the functionality you get in this thing. I checked it out years ago, it was a mess of a forum where all the RP topics would get spammed off the first page in less htan a minute and the servers were always messing up under the massive load. Then I lost my password, and haven't been able to get back on until recently. I still haven't really checked it out much since then, but I did notice my avatar is some obsolete format and won't display properly, which is actualy kind of interesting in a way.

Are classics THAT good? You could get a few new game systems and a set of games for each with that kind of money.
-
I dunno, I like me some Galaga, but I'd probably look into building my own before paying that much. You could probably do it with an old laptop running MAME with some arcade hardware for the joystick, slapped into a home-made case.
-
That RE 1.5 thing, is it a mod? cause I dunno, it just looks too jumbled to me, parts of it look like 1 parts like 2, some 3 and some of it like code Veronica. Besides that, the zombies looked harder to kill than ever, and those zombies at the end (in the lab that was destroyed in RE2) move way too fast, like crimson heads from the remake.
All in all it was a nice idea, but I'm pretty sure it's just a mod.
-
It was one of the many unreleased Resident Evil games from what I read. And the zombies did have a dash in that one according to the article.

But here is a shameless invitation to Scour.com (http://scour.com/invite/FyberOptic), which supposedly pays you in Visa gift cards to search, vote on search results, and leave comments.
Points are:
25,000 = $100
12,500 = $50
6,500 = $25
You get one point for a search, two more points for voting on a search result, three for leaving a comment, but with a maximum of four points per search. I dunno how hard it is to get enough points to get anything, but considering how often I do searches, it might prove worthwhile . . !
EDIT: lol oops, I put this in the old links topic.

Speaking of shameless invites...
I'm not sure if we've ever done this Minicity thing here, but if we have, then I'll show you a couple of other games from the same company.
-AlphaBounce (http://www.alphabounce.com?ref=KurisuMurei): Arkanoid-type game with some RPG-ish elements.
-KadoKado (http://www.kadokado.com?ref=KurisuMurei): A cyber-arcade with a variety of games. Use the tickets you earn to buy stuff like Amazon.com gift certificates!
-Caverns of Hammerfest (http://www.hfest.net/?ref=KurisuMurei): Arcade-action game. Gameplay is a mix of Bomberman, Bubble Bobble, and Snow Bros. (More so the last of these three.)
Good if you wish to kill a few minutes' time, but since they limit the number of plays per day, it's not for long play sessions (unless you give them moneys.)
